YH: Iron Hacks is a hackathon meant to bring together high schoolers who are interested in a day of coding, learning and collaboration to make something awesome. Participants in our high school hackathon can use any language and any hardware components they'd like to bring their ideas to life. We will have mentors and workshops to help students new to coding both learn and make something cool!
We will have deliciousness and all sorts of other delicious munchies!
Ever wanted to meet a Boss? Well, come and you will. Talk and gain help from mentors who already work in the tech field or even at your dream job.
First time hacker? No problem, we've got just the way to start you off.
Wanna make something epic and win prizes? We got you.
YH: IronHacks is a high school hackathon! We welcome all high school students to apply for our hackathon, even if you've never coded before! Of course, college students are welcome to come as mentors!
YH: IronHacks will be a twelve hour high school hackathon that will take place on February 28th 2015! Make sure to bring a friend who's never touched code before.
What can I build?
The theme for IronHacks is to strengthen and empower high school just like you. Whatever that means to you, BUILT IT! Make sure to bring any hardware, laptops or smartphones that you want to utilize during the event. We may have some hardware such as Arduinos and Intel microcontrollers at the hackathon as well.
What if I've never been to a hackathon before?
A high school hackathon like YH: Iron Hacks is the perfect chance for you to experience what a Hackathon is like. Regardless of experience level, all are welcome to come learn, celebrate and build.
Do I need a team?
We will start with a team formation workshop to help you find a team if you don't have one. You don't need to have a team to participate though. Teams will generally be made up of 1 to 4 students.
